 Not in our pews: Teaming up to end domestic violence conference
October 27 and 28 Olympia Conference Center Oconomowoc Wisconsin A conference is being offered at the Olympia Resort and Conference Center in Oconomowoc, WI October 27 and 28. The conference will work in partnership with and celebrate the 10th anniversary of Wings of Faith Ministries’ annual domestic violence training for faith leaders. The Rev. Al Miles is our featured speaker. He is the author of a number of books and articles on faith and domestic violence including Violence in Families: What Every Christian Needs to Know and Domestic Violence: What Every Pastor Needs to Know.
The conference goals are to build partnerships between congregational leaders, service providers and law enforcement programs. It will provide faith and congregational leaders with strategies and resources to effectively and safely meet the needs of victims, their families as well as congregations impacted by domestic violence. Presenters will offer information on how to assist victims to make thoughtful decisions from a theological perspective and continue to remain in relationship with God. It will also provide opportunities to explore how faith communities might work to end domestic violence as well as how leaders might navigate a congregation that is impacted by domestic violence.
The conference is being offered by Project SAFE, Wings of Faith Ministries' and a number of generous supporters. Project SAFE is a not-for-profit collaboration of congregational leaders and domestic violence service providers who have joined together to provide faith leaders with strategies and resources to address the needs of families and congregations impacted by domestic violence.
